From Vision to Reality

Inception
A sports management club at UMass was revolutionized by a couple of students who started to organize events more regularly and began recruiting members at a higher clip. They became known on campus as THE destination for sports management majors.
Groundwork
The UMass club leaders envisioned expanding their success nationally. The beginnings of Mu Sigma Lambda were formed in late 2021 as the founders laid the groundwork for the fraternity, establishing processes, organizational structure, and testing feasibility.
National Office Creation
After graduating, the original founders partnered with UNC graduates who shared their vision. Together, these four recent graduates launched the official Mu Sigma Lambda national office, establishing it as a co-ed professional sports management fraternity.
Official Recognition
Mu Sigma Lambda received official recognition as a fraternity focused on sports and sports media, designed to bridge the collegiate experience with professional industry opportunities.
Alpha Chapter Launch
On August 16, 2023, the Alpha Chapter officially launched at UNC Chapel Hill with 44 members, marking a significant milestone with the creation of the national website.
First Expansion
Two new chapters were added at the University of Florida and West Virginia University, scheduled for Fall 2024 launch, marking the beginning of national expansion.
Rapid Growth
Four additional chapters were onboarded: Shenandoah University, University of Georgia, University of Texas at Austin, and Syracuse University—bringing the total to 7 institutions within one year of establishment.

In just over a year since our official founding, Mu Sigma Lambda has achieved remarkable growth.

How it all started

What began as a campus club's success story became the foundation for a national movement. The founders saw an opportunity to bring their proven model to students across the country, and Mu Sigma Lambda was born.
